Airport

The nearest airport to our guesthouse is in Iquitos (IQT) Francisco Secada Vignetta

Iquitos

The nearest city where most people access the jungle from.

There are two ways to reach us from Iquitos the cheapest and slowest being the slow boat (la lancha)

La LanchaLa Lancha

la lanchala lancha

This boat chugs up the Rio Amazon and takes roughly 15 hours. Everything travels on this boat from chickens and buffalo to cars, beers and building materials. Its advisable to travel with a hammock,

the boat leaves Iquitos around midday and arrives in Genaro Herrera at around 5AM

S/ 25 soles per person.

The faster more luxurious way to reach our guesthouse is to purchase a ticket for the speedboat (la rapido)

There are a couple of companys based in Iquitos that offer this service and we suggest you to use "Transporte Alexandra" there office is on Calle Yavari and this is also where you catch the coach for the firstpart of your journey, they drive you to a town called Nauta roughly 1.5 hours.

Here they transfer you and your luggage to a speedboat (rapido). The speedboat takes around two hours until you reach the port in our village Genaro Herrera. Either Chris or Paul will be waiting at the port to welcome you to the jungle. It costs 70 Soles and includes lunch

Tarrapoto

Its also possible to travel to La Casa del Otorongo from Tarrapoto, you need to catch a speedboat from Yurimaguas which takes 15 hours to Nauta. From Nauta you can catch another speedboat to our village Genaro Herrera (2 hours)

Pucallpa

From Pucallpa you can catch a slowboat to Genaro Herrera the name of the boat is called ''Henry'' it takes 2 or 3 days!

Leticia

There are different fast boat services than run to here depending which day you plan to travel. All boats however take around 12 hours.

There are also speedboats which offer this service for a faster option
